Severe Bow Echo in S.WI and N. IL. 6/8/11
A cold front to the west set off powerful storms as it ran into the strongly unstable and moist 90 degree air ahead of it first in S.WI and Eastern IA. The storms in S.WI formed into a Bow echo which raced east producing high winds of 80mph and golfball sized hail in South and SE WI.
Then a powerful storm in East IA and the SW part of the line here congealed into a solid line and formed another but less pronounced bow structure too.. Numerous reports of power outages and high winds were reported. A 69 mph wind was recorded at the RFD airport at 1018pm !
Golfball size hail was reported at WREX. Here we had winds to about 55mph and did not lose power.
Bow Echo in WI developed an extension on the SW end of the line into N.IL.
Severe Thunderstorm warnings were issued for high winds
Line developed well moving through the area..
Winds gusted to 69 mph at the KRFD..small trees were down in the area ..
