06/27/09 Near Lanark IL. in Carroll co.
These thunderstorms moved were topping out at 55,000-60,000 ft tall and the northern part of a squall line which extended down to south of the Quad Cities. Much of the severe weather was in the form of high winds. The shelf cloud shown here was excellent. Shortly after passage I estimated winds gusted 60-65mph from the west. My car even shook. Unfortunately I didnt have any video EQ. with me this time but you can see from the trees bending they were taking a beating.

Winnebago/ Boone Co. IL Supercell / Tornado event.
Record Warm day of 69 and a powerful cold front and substantial wind shear set up a potential for Tornadic supercells in N.IL.. One cell in particular headed NE through parts of Winnebago co. and N. Boone co. The cell dropped a tornado in extreme Winnebago co and N. Boone where it hit Caledonia. it followed almost the exact same path as in Jan 2008.
I happned to be up in Machesney Park on 251 as it passed over with very heavy rain and strong winds..
The Torando dropped on the East side of Loves park near the county border as you'll see.

This was probably the last severe WX event of the season.. a line forming into a small Bow echo moved thorugh in the late afternoon. Numerous winds reports and some of Wind damage with winds over 70mph were reported from across N. IL.
Thunderstorm south right before sunset produced a fiery image... on 9/12/10

Strong Storm in Winnebago co.. 8/13/10
The Strong Thunderstorm intensified over Winnebago co..it produced about 3.5" of rain in in about an hour in Machesney Park... I happened to be at work south by the airport but managed a distant shot..experienceng some gusty winds even there. Then the second line moved through with more gusty winds and heavy rainfall..
7/22-24/10 N.IL Flood Event
Over the last couple days 3 rounds of Storms moved in over the area. Rainfall totaled 7.25" here with RFD officially getting almost 8.5".
Typical flood set up of a front in the area and LLJ veering right up into our area thus causing backbuilding and training of heavy storms with continous lightning with storms over 55kft.
7/24
Freeport had roads closed and people had to be rescued from cars that got stuck in the water.
Just south very hot humid air was around I-80 which fed a storms complex moving east with 75mph winds from Quad city area to Chicago..
6/23/10 N.IL Severe Weather Event
Storms developed in EC Iowa and moved east while towering up to 63,000ft. Supercells quickly formed into a line. Main event was damaging winds with this line. Winds of 75-85mph were reported basically east/ west along I-88. and moved ESE.
Didn't get to chase the main event but caught the back end of the line..as it raced east at about 45-50mph.
06/18/10 N.IL Bow Echo/ Derecho Severe Weather event.
Bow echo develops from a line of storms in NE and West IA. It moved into N.IL and intensified in an unstable atmosphere. Numerous reports of wind damage were reported all over N.IL. Actually from IA-OH. I was positioned near the RFD airport and winds gusted to about 50mph. However, in town 60-72mph winds were reported causing tree damage. Classic shelf cloud as the 'Gust Front' approaches !
Later in the Evening a second line developed in EC Iowa and moved ESE. This line caused further wind damage along it with winds of 50-80mph. Here in RFD I recorded 1.25inches in just a half hr. We had about a foot of standing water in some streets around town.
Total Rainfall here over last couple days was about 3.5" here..
